We remember it differently.

[ Her insistence that she wouldn't have been killed is dubious at best. But further protests are stifled. Speaking on it apparently invites bad luck, which...is an unfamiliar concept to Merrin, but she is still learning the ways of others. ]

What would you have us drink then?

[ She has smelled the stench of drink on the soldiers, seen them act...worse when under the influence of it. Having never been exposed to liquor of any kind, it is likewise another new experience for her to consider. ]
